少しずつ暖かくなってきました。もう6月ですね。こちらは、家の近くの教会です。

It becomes warmer and warmer. June will soon come. Here is a church nearby my house.

城南(ソンナム)市で開催されたLaparoscopic Surgery Update 2010に参加しました。全てが、International sessionです。Gastric Surgery では日本から熊本大学の馬場教授、岩上先生が講演されました。また、帝京大学山川名誉教授のSpecial lectureもありました。

I attended Laparoscopic Surgery Update 2010 at Seongnam city. All were international session. In the field of gastric surgery, Prof. Baba and Dr. Iwagami (Kumamoto Univ.) from Japan gave us a lecture. Emeritus Prof. Yamakawa gave us a special lecture.

会の後、岩上先生(写真中央)と写真を撮りました。After the meeting, I took photo with Dr. Iwagami (center).

明日のYonsei 大腸シンポジウムの招待講演に参加させるため、藤田保健衛生大学下部消化管外科の前田教授が来られました。残念ながら、写真はありませんが、こちらの大腸の先生方と、会食させていただきました。前田教授は、韓国伝統料理をとても気に入られたようでした。

Prof. Maeda (Fujita Health Univ. Colorectal Surgery Department) visited to Korea to attend tomorrow Yonsei colorectal symposium as a guest speaker. Though I unfortunately have no picture, I joined dinner party with him and our colorectal doctors. Prof. Maeda seemed to be happy with Korean traditional meals.

 このところ、参加させていただく手術の件数が多く、ブログの更新ができませんでした。ビデオでの復習、とても大切です。

It was very difficult to write this because I had many operation cases which I joined in this week. The feadback and review by using video might be very important.

昨日午後、ソウルに戻りました。今日は、小嶋先生、円城寺先生(東京医科歯科大学)、上野先生、江原先生、田中先生(虎の門病院)がYonsei大学に見学に来られました。夕食会もあり、みなさん、楽しそうでしたよ。

Last afternoon, I came back to Seoul. Today, Dr. Kojima, Dr. Enjoji (two doctors from Tokyo Medical Dental Univ.), Dr. Ueo, Dr. Ehara and Dr. Tanaka (Toranomon hospital) visited our hospital. We joined dinner party and every doctor look quite enjoyable.

カリフォルニア州サニーベール市Intuitive本社でのInternational fellowによる1年の報告会がありました。今回、6人のfellow(医学生1人を含む)が参加しました。それぞれがこの1年で経験した手術件数、学会発表、論文の進行状況を発表しました。1人30分-45分程度の発表及び、質疑応答がありました。

Fellows meeting were held at Intuitive Company, Sunnyvale, CA. Six fellows including one medical student were joined this meeting. Each of them reported their operation case, presentation case at the congress and published and/or submitted papers. Their presentation and Q/A period were 30-45minututes.

消化管領域は小生のみで残りの先生は、泌尿器科と産婦人科でした。アメリカとは異なり、韓国・日本では胃癌の患者さんが多いので、また、母国を離れて、1年間の研究を行ったことが、大変興味深かったようで、かなりの質問がありましたが、なんとか、無事発表を終えて、ほっとしています。

Doctors except me were specialized in urology and gynecology field. Though the number of gastric cancer patients in Korea and Japan are huge, there are a few number of gastric cancer patients in USA. And my situation is unique, because I worked in other country. Audience seemed quite curious about my situation and there were many questions in my presentation. Now I feel relieved because I finished my presentation.

明日の朝に、サンフランシスコから直行便でソウルに戻ります。今後日本で、どのような状況で、仕事に携わることができるかはまだわかりませんが、この1年の経験を生かした仕事ができるように頑張っていきたいと思っています。

Tomorrow morning, I leave here and directly go back to Seoul. I’ m not sure exactly that what kind of situation will happen to me after going back to Japan. Anyway, I wish to make an effort to work and make the best use of this year’s experience.

韓国での生活も残りちょうど2カ月となりました。はじめは、心配ごとばかりでしたが、１１ヶ月が過ぎようとしています。時間がたつのは早いものです。

これからアメリカ、カリフォルニア、サニーベールにあるインテューティブ本社(ダビンチの会社)に1年の業績報告に行ってきます。私は、現在Yonsei大学で勤務していますが、私は、Intuitive社の国際研究員という立場でもあり、給料は、そちらからいただいています。おもにアメリカですが、本年度の10人弱の国際研究員が、その回に参加する予定です。そのため、今はインチョン空港にいます。

Just two months are left in my Korean life. When I firstcame to Korea, there were many things what I worried about. I spent almost 11monthsin Seoul. Time passes too early.

Today, I leave Seoul to report my one year’s works at Intuitive Company in Sunnyvale, California . Regarding my position, though I work in Yonsei University, I also belong to clinical international fellow of Intuitive Company. So this company supports my salary. Less than 10 fellows in this year mainly from USA will gather together in the meeting. I’m now in Incheon airport.

The homepage of Yonsei Robotic Center was opened. From now, it would be convenience to visit to observe the robotic surgery and to receive some information of our institute.   

また、Yonsei大学のダビンチ手術件数が、4000件を超え、その報告会がありました。すごい数ですね。

And, it was reported that more than 4000 cases of robotic surgery were accomplished in this hospital. What a huge numbers!

こちらは週末の朝御飯です。キムチ付き目玉焼きと、ご飯、それから藤田の先生方が来られた時にもらったインスタント味噌汁です。

Here is my breakfast in the weekend. The menu is fried egg with kimchi, rice and instant miso soup which I got from Fujita’s doctors when they visited to Korea.
